How this calculator works
- It adds the overhang to every side of the footprint: (length + 2 × overhang) × (width + 2 × overhang).
- It multiplies by the pitch factor to turn the flat footprint into sloped roof surface. A 6/12 roof has a factor of 1.118.
- It divides by 100 to get squares, adds waste, and multiplies by 3 to get shingle bundles.
This works for simple rectangular gable and hip roofs. L-shaped houses, dormers and mixed pitches need a real measurement — that’s what a Horus report gives you in under a minute.
